Background
On June 14, 2023, the City Council approved the acquisition of 20-acres of vacant land for a future 20-Acre Park. The proposed 20-Acre Park (CIP 099) is located east of Palomar St., south of Gierson Ave., and southeast of Pasadena St. The existing 20-acre property is vacant and includes trees, natural vegetation, some irrigation, and some unimproved walking trails and is characterized by rolling topography. To preserve and maintain the natural features of the existing property, the park has been proposed as a passive nature park with limited active amenities and a focus on passive amenities. The City entered into a contract with Architerra Design Group (Architerra) on July 12, 2023, for the design of the 20-Acre Park.
